I'm in the hill country for a few weeks, caring for a friend's place and animals. There is natural light everywhere in this house, and animals stir inside and out - I can see three dogs, two cats, one hummingbird, and three deer from my perch here. This morning, I awoke at 7:00 to feed the animals and ate some cantaloupe myself in one of the yellow aiderondack chairs in the front yard. Now everything is in its napping place, and I'm considering what I might do with my day.

While I do that, you ought to check out the trailer for Beasts of the Southern Wild and find out where it's playing near you. It will knock your socks off.

it is an exquisite story by one of the finest writers around. if i encouraged you to read it as enthusiastically as i want to, it might turn you off. so please, do yourself a favor already. read it.

 

make it: moqueca (brazilian fish stew)

made with white fish, onions, garlic, bell peppers, tomatoes, cilanto (optional, thank you), and coconut milk. insanely delicious.

yoga: warm tingly style

have you ever done yoga? i thought i'd never be one of those yoga people, but i found my dream teacher, and now i'm in post-yoga bliss. like warm tingly style. and i bought a shimmery gold bag for my yoga mat. what is the world coming to?
